φθονερός, ά, όν, A. envious, jealous, of persons, σοφίης μὴ φ. τελέθειν grudging of wisdom, 770, etc.; ὄψον λόγοι φθονεροῖσιν N. 8.21; φ. ταῖς ἑτέρων εὐτυχίαις 6.46: Sup., ὀρνίθων -ώτατος AP 5.2 ().
