μόλις, Adv., A. post- synonym of μόγις, prevailing in Trag., Com., and Att. prose, though in and later prose μόγις was preferred (in the Laur. Ms. gives each form twice, the same Ms. of μόλις always); μ. μέν, ἀλλʼ ὅμως ἠνεσχόμην Nu. 1363, cf. Ant. 290,1105, El. 575, Ph. 329; ζῶντι καὶ μάλα μ. nay, only just alive, Tht. 142b (cod. W μόγις) ; μ. καὶ ἠρέμα πάσχειν scarcely at all . . , Metaph. 1019a31 (cod. Ab μόγις) ; ἢ ὅλως οὐκ ἔστιν ἢ μ. Ph. 217b32; μ. πάνυ 30; πάνυ μ. 88.8: with a neg., οὐ μ. not scarcely, i.e. quite, utterly, ἀπώλεσας οὐ μ.
