κατεῖδον, inf. κατῐδεῖν, part. κατῐδών, aor. 2 with no pres. in use, καθοράω being used instead:—A. look down, Περγάμου ἒκ κατιδών Il. 4.508 (nisi leg. ἐκκατ-). II. c. acc., look down upon, view, τὰς νήσους ἁπάσας ἐν κύκλῳ Eq. 170. 2. see, behold, regard, 905, Pers. 1026 (lyr.); catch sight of, τὰς νέας 7.194, cf. Supp. 1044; κατιδεῖν βίον to live, Ag. 474 (lyr.). 3. of mental vision, perceive, discern, OT 338, Euthphr. 2c. III.
