Ep. form of στενάχω, groan, sigh, Il. l.c.; σ. πόντος Orph. H. 38.17. II. trans., sigh, groan over or for, τινα S. El. 133 (prob. f.l., στενάχειν cj. Elmsl., lyr.), cf. Mosch. 3.28.
