First of the people, name of the hero who first leaped ashore at Troy, Il. 2.698 (so understood by Hom., ib.702, but the name may be a corruption of Πορθεσίλαος, cf. Cret. Πορθεσίλας and Πορτεσίλας) :—Πρωτεσιλάειον, τό, his monument, Str. 13.1.31: Πρωτεσιλάεια, τά, his festival, Sch.Pi. I. 1.11.
