ὀμφή, ἡ, poet. Noun, A. voice, in Hom. always of the gods, ταῦτα θεῶν ἐκ πεύσεται ὀμφῆς Il. 20.129 ; ἐπισπόμενοι θεοῦ ὀμφῇ Od. 3.215,16.96 ; θείη δέ μιν ἀμφέχυτʼ ὀ., of the voice of the dream sent by Zeus to Agamemnon, Il. 2.41 ; oracle delivered from the inner shrine at Pytho, Thgn. 808 ; τρίποδος Philostr. Im. 2.19 ; κληροῦν ὀμφάν (v. κληρόω II.2) ; signified by the flight of birds, ὀ. οἰωνοῖο A.R. 3.939 : also in pl., κατʼ ὀμφὰς τὰς Ἀπόλλωνος S.
