ὠμοθετέω, in sacrificing, A. place the raw pieces duly on the altar, Il. 1.461, 2.424, Od. 3.458:—Med., ὠμοθετεῖτο, πάντων ἀρχόμενος μελέων, ἐς πίονα δημόν 14.427: later, gerlerally, sacrifice, ἀρνειόν 3.1033 (Act.). (Fr. ὠμός, raw. , however, says (134.35) that some derived it fr. ὦμος shoulder, and expld. it accordingly.)
