νήποινος, ον, (νη-, ποινή) A. unavenged, without compensation, Hom. (only in Od.), νήποινοί κεν ὄλοισθε 1.380, 2.145; ἀλλότριον βίοτον νήποινον ἔδουσιν 1.160; ἀνδρὸς ἑνὸς βίοτον νήποινον ὀλέσθαι ib.377, cf. 18.280; also νήποινα (as Adv.) ἀποκτείνειν (v.l. for νηποινεί) X. Hier. 3.3. II. φυτῶν νάποινος (νή- codd.), like ἄμοιρος, without share of, unblest with fruitful trees, Pi. P. 9.58.
