γυμνόω, A. strip naked, τὰ ὀστέα τῶν κρεῶν γ. strip the bones of their flesh, 4.61; σῶμα γυμνώσαντες εὖ Ant. 410:— only Med. and Pass., strip oneself or be stripped naked, αἰδέομαι γὰρ γυμνοῦσθαι Od. 6.222; mostly of warriors, to be exposed, ὅτεῳ στρεφθέντι μετάφρενα γυμνωθείη Il. 12.428; οὖτα Θόαντα στέρνον γυμνωθέντα παρʼ ἀσπίδα 16.312, cf.
