εὐδείελος, ον, A. clear, distinct, Hom. (only in Od.), usu. of Ithaca, 2.167,9.21, etc.: generally, ἦ πού τις νήσων εὐδείελος 13.234; farseen, Κρόνιον Pi. O. 1.111; ἄστυ Orac. ap. Eus. PE 6.7. II. open to the sun, sunny, χθὼν Ἰαολκοῦ Pi. P. 4.76; Κρίση h.Ap. 438; ὅσσα φύει εὐ. αἶα Euph. 50. (In signf. I perh. fr. δέελος (dub. l.), δῆλος (*δεᾰλος?): the alternative expl. from δείλη (cf. supr. ΙΙ) given by ancient Gramm., e.g. Apollon. Lex. and Str. 9.2.41, does not suit signf. I, but suits the forms.)
