ἔχμα, ατος, τό, (ἔχω) A. that which holds; and so, I. hindrance, impediment, Il. 21.259 (pl.). 2. c. gen., bulwark, defence against, ἐπηλυσίης h.Merc. 37; βολάων A.R. 4.201.
