διαίνω, aor. ἐδίηνα, A. wet, moisten, ὑπερῴην δʼ οὐκ ἐδίηνε Il. 22.495; ὄμμα διῆναι Heliod.Med(?). ap. 4.36.8 (hex.); διαίνετο . . ἄξων Il. 13.30; οἴνῳ διαίνων ἔντερʼ 8.3:—Med., διαίνεσθαι ὄσσε wet oneʼs eyes, Pers. 1064 (lyr.): and abs., weep, ib.258 (lyr.); δίαινε πῆμα. Ans. διαίνομαι weep for the woe—I weep, ib.1038 (lyr.), cf. Sch.ad loc., Fr. 210.35.—Rare in Prose, Mete. 387a28.
