miss, want, Act. used by Hom. only in aor., ἐδεύησεν δʼ οἰήϊον ἄκρον ἱκέσθαι he missed, failed in reaching it, Od. 9.483, 540: δεύει, = δεῖ, IG 12(2).526A 19 (Eresus); δεύοντος Alc. Oxy. 1788.15 ii 3.
