ἄνεω, Adv. A. without a sound, in silence, δὴν δʼ ἄ. ἦσαν Il. 9.30,695; τίπτʼ ἄ. ἐγένεσθε; 2.323; οἱ δʼ ἄ. ἐγένοντο 3.84, Od. 7.144, 10.71; ἅπαντες ἧσθʼ ἄ. 2.240.—In all the places cited it is joined with a pl. Verb, and is commonly written ἄνεῳ (as if nom. pl. from ἄνεως).
