properly, like ἀγκάλη, bend of the arm or wrist, ἀπ ἀγκύλης ἱέναι, a phrase descriptive of the way in which the cottabus was thrown, B. Fr. 13.2, cf. Hsch.; ἀπ ἀγκύλης ζησι λάταγας Cratin. 273; wrongly expl. as cup, Ath. 11.782d.
