φανταστικός, ή, όν, able to produce the appearance of something, Sph. 266d, 268c: ἡ -κή (sc. τέχνη), the art of producing appearances, opp. εἰκαστική, ib.236c; φ. ἐπιβολὴ τῆς διανοίας Sent. 24, cf. Ep. 1p.13U., Sign.Fr. 1 (pl.): τὸ φ. de An. 432a31, 4.3.29: the imaginative faculty, faculty of being deluded by images, 2.22. Adv. -κῶς, by means of mental images, Nat. 28.7; τυποῦσθαι 3.16, M. 7.373, cf. Or. 5.164c, in Metaph. 115.37, etc.
