ὀρεκτός, ή, όν, (ὀρέγω) A. stretched out, ὀ. μελίαι pikes to be used for thrusting, Il. 2.543 ; so ὀρεκτὸν δόρυ pike, opp. παλτόν (javelin), Str. 10.1.12. II. longed for, desired, τὸ ὀ. the object of appetency, Arist. de An. 433a18, cf. EN 1113a10, al. ; τὸ ὀ. κινεῖ οὐ κινούμενον τῷ νοηθῆναι ἢ φαντασθῆναι Id. de An. 433b11 ; opp. ὀρεκτέος, Stoic. 3.22.
