Sph. 223d, Arist. Pol. 1257a18: καπηλικόν, τό, campfollowers, sutlers of an army, Arr. Tact. 2.1; but also, tax on retailtraders, BGU 1237 (iii/ii B.C.). 2. like a petty trader, knavish, cozening, κ. μέτρα φιλεῦσα AP 9.229 (Marc. Arg.); ὕθλος Porph. Chr. 49.
