ἐπικρίνω [κρῑ], fut. -κρῐνῶ (v.infr.):—A. decide, determine, τι Pl. Lg. 768a; τὸ πλεῖον καὶ τοὔλαττον D.H. 3.29; περί τινος Decr. ap. D. 18.38; τοῦ ἐπικρινοῦντος δέοι ἄν Pl. R. 524e: c.inf., ἐπέκρινε γενέσθαι τὸ αἴτημα αὐτῶν Ev. Luc. 23.24; ἐ. τί διαφέρει what is the difference, Arist. de An. 431a20; τὸ ἐπικρῖνον the deciding power, Id. Insomn. 461b25; also, principle of selection, rule of life, Epicur.
