ἔγχελυς Conv. 39, acc. -ῠν Fr. 8 (the accent ἐγχέλυς, etc., is sts. found as v.l.), ἡ (ὁ, is f.l. in Anach. 1), Att. gen. εως, nom. pl. εις, cf. Fr. 145; gen. pl. ἐγγέλεων acc. to in Theod. 1.331; but the Ion. forms -υος, -υες or -υς, -ύων, -υσι are freq. found as v.l. in HA; dat. sg. -υϊ Mul. 2.115; acc. pl. ἐγχέλυας 101:—Α. eel, ἐγχέλυές τε καὶ ἰχθύες Il. 21.203, cf. 73, HA 538a3, al., etc.; ἐ.
