δρυοκολάπτης, ου, ὁ, A. woodpecker, of which distinguishes four species, the great black, Picus martius, the green, Picus viridis, and the spotted (both greater and less). Picus major and minor, HA593a5, cf. 614b7, 5.4.2; = Lat. picus, 1.14:—also δρυκολάπτης, Av. 480,979; 2. δρῠοκόλαψ, s.v. ἵπτα (prob. l.); δρῠοκόπος, PA 662b7.
