δελεάζω, (δέλεαρ) A. entice or catch by a bait, τὴν γραῦν δ. λεπαστῇ Antiph. 45, cf. Hdn. 2.15.3; δ. τινὰς ἐπὶ πλεονεξίαν Onos. 6.10:— Pass., γαστρὶ δελεάζεσθαι X. Mem. 2.1.4, cf. Isoc. 8.34, Epicur. Sent. Vat. 16, Phld. Lib.p.14O.; ῥᾳστώνῃ καὶ σχολῇ D. 18.45; ὑπὸ χρημάτων, ὑπὸ τῆς ἡδονῆς, Luc. Apol. 9, Jul. Or. 6.185a. II. c. acc. cogn., νῶτον ὑὸς περὶ ἄγκιστρον δ. put it on the hook as a bait, Hdt. 2.70; but δ. ἄγκιστρον ἰσχάδι bait it with a fig, Luc. Pisc. 47; δ. ἄγκιστρον ἐπʼ ἄλλους to catch others. ib.48.
