χαραδριός, ὁ, a A. bird, prob. the thickknee or Norfolk plover, Charadrius oedicnemus, Av. 266,1141, Int. 37, HA 593b15, 615a1, Le. 11.19, De. 14.17(18); it was very greedy, hence prov. χαραδριοῦ βίον ζῆν, of a glutton, Grg. 494b; the sight of it was held to be a cure for the jaundice, cf. 52, 2.681c, NA 17.13.
