ἀποξηραίνω, A. dry up, τὸ ἀρχαῖον ῥέεθρον-ξηρῆναι Hdt. 2.99:—Pass., to be dried up, of rivers, ἀποξηρανθῆναι Id. 1.75; ἀπεξηρασμένου τοῦ . . ῥεέθρου ib.186, cf. 7.109. 2. generally, dry completely, τὰς ναῦς lay them up, Th. 7.12:—Pass., ἀπεξηραμμένα κρεᾴδια Alex. 124.11, cf. Thphr. HP 8.11.3.
