ἀπηλιώτης (with or without ἄνεμος), ου, , A. east wind, Hdt. 4.22, 7.188, E. Cyc. 19, Th. 3.23; opp. ζέφυρος, Arist. Mete. 363b13, cf.Mu. 394b23, Vent. 973a13, al.—The Ion. form ἀπηλιώτης is retained in Att., and appears on the Tower of Andronicus Cyrrhestes, CIG 518; ἀφηλιώτης on a later table of the winds, IG 14.1308, and in Latin authors, Catull.26.3, SenecaQN 5.16.4, Gell. 2.22.8.
