II. in herds or shoals, gregarious, ἰχθύες Hdt. 2.93; ἀγελαῖα, τά, gregarious animals, Pl. Plt. 264d; opp. μοναδικά, σποραδικά, Arist. HA 487b34, Pol. 1256a23; πολιτικὸν ὁ ἄνθρωπος ζῷον πάσης μελίττης καὶ παντὸς ἀ. ζῴου μᾶλλον ib.1253a8. 2. of the common herd, ἀ. ἄνθρωποι, opp. ἄρχοντες, Pl.
