συλλαβή, ἡ, (συλλαμβάνω IV) A. conception, pregnancy, only in 1085. 2. grip, hold, in wrestling, metaph., in Cael. 354.5; so perh. mental grasp, participation, Mus.p.103 K. (pl.). II. Act., that which holds together, συλλαβαὶ πέπλων, i.e. a girdle, Supp. 457. 2.
