Πύθιος [ῡ; ῑ metri gr. in h.Ap. 373], α, ον, (Πῡθώ) A. Pythian, i.e. Delphian, epith. of Apollo, l.c., Pi. O. 14.11, etc. (Π. alone is f.l. in E. Ion 285); ἐν Πυθίου in his temple, Th. 6.54 (citing Πυθίου ἐν τεμένει from IG 12.761), IG 22.17.10, prob. in Pl. Grg. 472b; also οἱ Πύθιοι, αἱ Πύθιαι, the gods and goddesses worshipped at Pytho or Delphi, Ar. Th. 332, cf. IG 14.2436 (Massilia). 2. = Πυθικός, ἄεθλα, στέφανοι, μαντεύματα, Pi. P. 3.73, 10.26, I. 7(6).15; ἀκταί S. OC 1047 (lyr.); ἀστραπαί E. Ion 285; κύκνος Ar. Av. 870.
