πρόθυρον, τό, A. front-door, door-way, esp. of the entrance to the αὐλή, ἐκ δʼ ἔλασε προθύροιο καὶ αἰθούσης Il. 24.323, cf. Od. 3.493: pl., στῆ δʼ . . ἐπὶ προθύροις Ὀδυσῆος, οὐδοῦ ἐπʼ αὐλείου 1.103; πρόθυρα δωμάτων Ch. 966 (lyr.), cf. Tr. 194(lyr.); of the entrance to the μέγαρον, Od. 18.10, 101, 386, 21.299. 2. porch, portico, παραστάδας καὶ π. βούλει ποικίλα 42, cf.
