Πλούτων, ωνος, ὁ, A. Pluto, god of the nether world, first in Trag., as Pr. 806, Ant. 1200, Alc. 360, HF 808 (lyr.): acc. to Plato (from πλοῦτος) the wealth-giver, a name of Hades, ὅτι ἐκ τῆς γῆς ἀνίεται [ὁ πλοῦτος], Cra. 403a, cf. πλουτοδότης; identified with Plutus, and considered as the god of riches, cf. Fr. 273, Pl. 727:—hence Πλουτώνιος, α, ον, of or belonging to Pluto;
