πλημμέλεια, , prop. A. mistake in music, false note, but in usage, metaph., fault, error, esp. in taste or judgement, Pl. Ap. 22d; διὰ π. καὶ ἀμουσίαν Id. Lg. 691a; faultiness in metre, etc., Plu. 2.396d; ἀσέβεια ἡ περὶ θεοὺς π. Arist. VV 1251a31 (hence in LXX, trespass, sin, Le.6.5, al.; εἰς πλημμέλειαν for a sin-offering, ib.5.18): freq. in pl., αἱ π. αἱ ἐν τοῖς πράγμασιν Isoc. 8.56, etc.
