λίθινος, η, ον, also ος, ον AP 9.719, D.L. 2.33:— A. made of stone, Hippon. 10, Ibyc. 22, Hdt. 3.88, Th. 3.68, Herod. 7.109, PHib. 1.27.26 (iii B.C.), etc.; λ. θάνατος, i.e. caused by seeing the Gorgon‘s head, Pi. P. 10.48; so λ. εὐθὺς γίγνομαι Antiph. 166.4; but, ἕστηκε λίθινος, of a statue, Hdt. 2.141 (cf. ἵστημι A.Ι, B.ΙΙΙ.2); τὰ λ. marble statues, X. Lac. 3.5; Ἑρμῆς λ.
