ὑφηγέομαι, pf. ὑφήγημαι (v. infr.):—A. go just before, guide, lead, τινι El. 664, Euthd. 278c, etc.: abs., go first, lead the way, ὑφηγοῦ El. 1502, cf. 1.78, Phd. 82d; τοῦτο εὐθὺς ὑφήγηται this is the guiding principle, Pol. 1260a4; κατὰ τὸν ὑφηγημένον τρόπον according to the normal plan, EN 1108a3, Pol. 1256a2; κατὰ τὴν ὑ. μέθοδον ib. 1252a17 (it is not necessary to regard these usages as pass.).
