ὑπεκχωρέω, A. withdraw, retire, (sc. ἐκ τῆς Ἀττικῆς) Hdt. 9.13,14; ὑ. τοῦ βίου Pl. Lg. 785b: c. dat., retire and give place to another, Id. Phd. 103d; ὑ. τῷ θανάτῳ make way for death, and so escape, ib. 106e. 2. to be purged, ἐπὴν φάρμακόν τις πιὼν κάτω καὶ ἄνω ὑπεκχωρέῃ Hp. Loc.Hom. 33.
