ῥύαξ [ῠ], ᾱκος, , (ῥέω) A. rushing stream, mountain torrent, Th. 4.96, Dsc. 3.51, prob. in OGI 335.111 (Pergam., ii B.C.). 2. esp. stream of lava from a volcano, ὁ ῥ. τοῦ πυρὸς ἐκ τῆς Αἴτνης Th. 3.116, cf. Pl. Phd. 111e, 113b, Arist. Mir. 833a17, Thphr. Lap. 22; ὁ καλούμενος ῥ. D.S. 14.59. 3. metaph., ῥ. ἀργύρου γενέσθαι Id. 5.35. 4. of dolphins, etc., ἔχει οἷον ῥ. δύο ἐξ ὧν τὸ γάλα ῥεῖ two flow-holes, Arist. HA 504b24.
