ἁλουργής, ές, (ἅλς, ἔργον) lit. A. wrought in or by the sea, always in sense sea-purple, i.e. genuine purple dye, opp. imitations, ἐμβαίνονθʼ ἁλουργέσιν on cloths of purple, A. Ag. 946; μίτρα ἁ. Pherecr. 100; στρώμαθʼ ἁ. Anaxandr. 41.7; γῆ Pl. Phd. 110c; τὸ ἁ. Arist. Col. 792a7:—less freq. ἁλουργός, όν (also ά, όν Phylarch. 41), ἔρια Pl.
