ἐξίτηλος [ῐ], ον, (ἐξιέναι) A. going out: hence, losing colour, fading, evanescent, πορφυρίδες ἐξίτηλοι Oec. 10.3; of paintings, faded, ἐ. ὑπὸ τοῦ χρόνου 10.38.9, cf. 1.44; γράμματα 5.150. 2. metaph., ἐ. τροφή food that has lost its properties during assimilation, Alim. 4; so of seed sown in alien soil, R. 497b; of a drug or wine that has lost its power, 10J., 5.6; ἐ. γενέσθαι, of a family, to become extinct, 5.39; οὔπω σφιν ἐ. αἷμα δαιμόνων is not yet extinct, Fr. 162.4, cf.
