ἀποδιοπομπέομαι, fut. -ήσομαι (in pass. sense, Themist. Ep. 4.5; act. form in Eust. 1935.12):—A. escort out of the city the δῖον κῴδιον (v. κῴδιον): hence generally, conjure away, Pl. Cra. 396e, Onos. 5, Ph. 1.239, Lib. Decl. 15.34; μετʼ εὐπρεπείας τοὺς φιλοσόφους ἐκ τῆς πόλεως Plu. Cat.Ma. 22; τινὰς τοῦδε τοῦ γράμματος Gal. Thras. 37. 2. generally, set aside, waive, τὸ προβληθέν Ath. 9.401b, cf. Theo Sm. p.200H. II. καθήρασθαι καὶ ἀ. τὸν οἶκον free it from pollution, Pl. Lg. 877e; πόλιν καθαίρειν καὶ ἀ. Lys. 6.53.
