ἀνάξιος (A), ον, also α, ον freq. in Att.: I. of persons, unworthy, not deemed or held worthy; ἀνάξιον σοῦ too good for thee, Ph. 1009: also c. inf., ἀ. γὰρ πᾶσίν ἐστε δυστυχεῖν undeserving in the eyes of all to suffer, OC 1446; νικᾶν Prt. 356a. 2. abs., worthless, despicable, 7.9, Ph. 439, etc.; ἁπερεί τις ἔποικος ἀναξία El. 189 (lyr.).
