ἀνάξιος (A), ον, also α, ον freq. in Att.: I. of persons, unworthy, not deemed or held worthy; ἀνάξιον σοῦ too good for thee, S. Ph. 1009: also c. inf., ἀ. γὰρ πᾶσίν ἐστε δυστυχεῖν undeserving in the eyes of all to suffer, S. OC 1446; νικᾶν Pl. Prt. 356a. 2. abs., worthless, despicable, Hdt. 7.9, S.
