ἄνανδρος, ον, (ἀνήρ): I. = ἄνευ ἀνδρός, husbandless, of virgins and widows, Supp. 287, Pers. 289 (lyr.), OT 1506, etc., and in Prose, as Mul. 1.4, Lg. 930c. 2. = ἄνευ ἀνδρῶν, without men, χρήματα ἄνανδρα Pers. 166; πόλις OC 939; ἄνανδρον τάξιν ἠρήμου (a prolepsis, = ὥστε εἶναι ἄνανδρον) Pers. 298.
